It’s Not About Being Kind—It’s About Being Surrounded by Kindness

Since announcing our upcoming charity fundraising concert, I’ve been overwhelmed by the warmth and support from so many of you. I’ve received many compliments, with people telling me how "kind" or "selfless" we are for dedicating our music to the healthcare system.

But as we get closer to the performance, I want to share a different perspective: This concert isn't happening because I am particularly kind. It’s happening because I am surrounded by people who are.

The idea for this concert was born out of a very vulnerable moment—that twelve-hour wait in the ER and a half-serious conversation with an AI about winning a $50 million lottery. At the time, I felt like just a "small musician." I thought that without a massive jackpot, I didn't have the power to change anything. I was wrong.

Since the event details went live, I have been deeply moved by the response. What touched me most weren't just the RSVPs, but the messages from people who said, "I can’t make it to the concert this Saturday, but I still want to contribute."

Seeing those donations come in—even from students who are contributing whatever they can within their means—has been a profound lesson for me. It gave Scott and me the confidence to believe that we don’t need to win the lottery to make a difference. We just need to gather the collective strength of our community.

Every person who has donated, every person who has shared our poster, and everyone who plans to sit in the audience this Saturday is a part of this change. I feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by such immense love and goodness. In many ways, I am the one learning from all of you.

As musicians, we provide the notes, but you are providing the hope.

Whether you join us in person at Rose Gellert Hall or support us from afar, please know how much we appreciate you. This isn't just our concert; it’s a reflection of the community we are so proud to be a part of.

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday.
