Carmina Burana—With Ballet, Choir, Percussion… and Just One Shot!

In the beggining of May, The Meeks Duo had the chance to perform Orff’s Carmina Burana—but not just as a piano duo! We joined forces with Ballet Victoria, the Vancouver Bach Choir, and Driftwood Percussion under the baton of conductor Leslie Dala for a full-stage, all-hands-on-deck kind of night.

It was such a special setup: the music alone is powerful enough, but add live ballet dancing right in front of you? Totally different experience—for us, and for the audience too! The dancers moved to the rhythms we were playing, and somehow, everything just clicked.

Honestly, we had so much fun making music together. Big sounds, big energy, and so many people listening, breathing, and creating in sync. That’s the kind of magic you can’t plan—it just happens when everyone shows up fully.

The only bummer? It was just one performance… and no filming allowed. 😅
So the memory lives only in our ears, our hands, and the tired-but-happy walk back to the car that night.

Still—what a night to be part of something this big, this bold, and this alive.

Grateful to everyone who made it happen. Bravi, tutti! 🎶💃🥁
