La ‘Jingle’ Campanella—And a Late-Night Piano Decorating Session
We just recorded a new holiday mashup: Scott combined Jingle Bells with Liszt’s La Campanella. It makes sense—they’re both about bells, after all. And somehow, you can actually hear both tunes at the same time.
I’d been thinking about how to film it for days. In the end, I decided it really had to be at night—Christmas just looks better with lights on, you know? So we waited until it was fully dark.
Then came the decorating.
We found two old strings of Christmas lights in the basement. They’d only been used once (the last few Decembers were just too busy). As I hung them on the piano, I kept thinking… it actually looked kind of nice.
Our old Santa hats were torn, so we went out to buy new ones. And while we were there, we saw a garland—and ornaments shaped like musical notes.
We looked at each other: “Well… these were basically made for us.” So we got them too.
The recording itself only took about an hour.
But setting up? That took hours.
And since I had lessons the next morning, we had to take everything down right after—past midnight, both of us barely keeping our eyes open. Hahaha…..
When we checked the footage, it looked okay.
And now that the video’s finished—it came out better than I expected.
So here’s our version of La “Jingle” Campanella.
Hope you like it—and happy holidays! 🎄
